Jukite Ju-Jitsu classes at All Saints are taught by Joshua Fleck, an All Saints parishioner and Knight of Columbus. Classes are held Wednesdays 6-8 pm, Fridays 6-8 pm, and Saturdays 2:30-4:30 pm in the Activities Center.
Jukite Ju-Jitsu, which means “art of softness” or “way of yielding” in Japanese, is a 600-year-old martial art which was invented by monks as a means to defend themselves against armed marauders without using weapons. It was further developed and perfected by the samurai warriors of feudal Japan. Ju-Jitsu is considered to be the “father” of Karate, Judo and Aikido, so students who learn Jukite-Ju-Jitsu are actually learning all three of these arts in one style.
Your Ju-Jitsu instructor, Sensei Joshua Fleck, is a Black Belt who was trained by O Sensei Al Salazar, an Eighth Degree Master and one of the two highest-ranking Jukite Ju-Jitsu Black Belts in the country.
The benefits of Ju-Jitsu for mind-body-spirit are many. The main ones, though, include cardiovascular fitness, body strength and flexibility, stress relief, concentration, self-confidence and empowerment, and last but not least, having fun! Also, in every class students learn effective self-defense techniques that can be used in all kinds of dangerous situations. Therefore, males and females of all ages can greatly benefit from this class.
There is NO FEEfor the first month because students will be purchasing their gis (uniforms) plus a $25.00 lifetime membership in the American Jujitsu Association, which provides ample sports insurance coverage and other benefits. Students pay only $50 per month thereafter. Students get one month free for each new student they refer. Half off for each additional family member ($25 per month).
No prior experience required. Since classes are ongoing, new students are welcome at any time. If you’re unsure and would just like to check it out, you are welcome to attend one of the informational sessions on the first Saturday of each month from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. You can also call Sensei Joshua at 404-513-5138 for more info … or just show up! See you there!
